How do you stop pesky in-laws from coming over?

We got married in Sept 08 and we bought a house in late Nov 08 and we are having a baby Oct 09 so we have had a busy year. I am an issue with my inlaws. They are coming over EVERY weekend with out calling. Last weekend it was 3x and the straw that broke the camels back was they don't knock or ring the door bell they just walk in. It has been bothering me for months and it always ends with me and DH fighting. I am not sure what to do but this has to end before the baby is born. I have asked my husband to ask them but he refuse. Last night I have been thinking about it all week and finally asked him nicely for his support that I was going to speak to them. He blew up and said they will hate me and never stop by . The thing is I could ask my fam and they would be okay with that. I am a private person and I am starting to resent them which is not good. I pull away and don't want to see them or talk to them.. HELP
Any one have this issue ? Any advice?

  1. I agree with you. Someone has to speak to them. You have your own family to be concerned about. By your own I mean hubby and you and the impeding arrival of your little one. I wouldn't dream of walking into my MIL without at least a ring of the doorbell and her answering it.
I don't even just walk into my sister's place either.
I wish I could tell you what to do but I am not in your situation. My FIL passed away in 2002 and it is now my MIL who is 73 and has Parkinson's. She is constantly calling my husband up and wanting him or both of us to go over to her place. I shouldn't say this but she drives me nuts.
I hope that things get better because you don't need the stress.

  2. I agree something has to be said. My husband thinks my in laws listen to me more than him since I'm new and they don't want to offend me. It's hard for me to bring things up but often they are better than I think they will be. And, this may be a stupid question but can you lock the doors? I hope this works out soon for your sake.
